Your
Wedding Photos
The first photos taken in preparation for
the "big day" are the Engagement
Session photos. There is no requirement to take them but
often
couples wish to have these pictures taken for their wedding
announcement in the local newspaper. These images may also be
used in your
wedding invitations/announcements, wedding programs, or some special
item. The pictures are usually informal and are taken at a
location,
typically outdoors, special to the couple.
Next are the Pre-Ceremony pics. These often
consist of pictures of the church and decorations before guests
arrive. They can also be
candid shots taken of the bride, bridesmaids, groom, groomsmen,
etc. getting prepared for the wedding.
Then comes the big event: The Ceremony pics. The
photographer will take pictures of all the wedding party and VIPs
(parents, close family,
etc.) that you request as they enter and walk down the aisle and again
when they exit. Candid shots will be taken during the ceremony
itself
if it is permitted by your church and/or
officiant. These pictures usually include the
lighting of the "Unity Candle" by both families, the
giving away of the bride, exchanging of the rings and recitiation of
vows, kissing the bride, and the presentation of the newlywed couple to
the
audience or congregation. If you have additional images in mind,
let the photographer know in advance.
If it is within reason, we will happy to
oblige.
After the ceremony has ended, the
photographer will conduct a Post-Ceremony
session. These pictures usually are taken on the altar but can
also be taken outside the church (weather permitting) and consist of
different combinations of the wedding party, family members, and VIPs.
For example, the bride and her parent(s), the groom and his parent(s),
the bride and groom alone, the bridesmaids alone, the groomsmen
alone, the entire wedding party, then any combination of family
members, VIPs, etc. that you wish. It would help, however, if you
provide the
photographer with a list of any pictures that you specifically would
like taken in advance.
Also, if your church or officiant will not permit the
taking of photographs during the actual ceremony, it is during the
Post-Ceremony phase that we will "re-enact" the ceremony for the purpose
of getting the desired pictures.
Most wedding photography packages
include at least one (if not two) Other
Locations. Like the engagement photos, the "other
location(s)"
should be picturesque, scenic, and within reassonable travel time so
you can get to the reception in a timely fashion. If your
reception is later
in the day or evening, the location(s) may not be quite so critical.
Now, it's party time--- The Reception. There is a wide
variety of pictures to be taken during the reception. Generally,
the Newlywed's entrance
into the recpetion hall starts off the festivities. Each wedding
reception differs slightly, but after a bried greeting period, the
wedding party takes
its place at the head table. The "First Toast" is usually given
by the Best Man, followed by speeches and additional toasts by others
in the
wedding party, and perhaps even some VIPs. Normally, following
the toasts, dinner is served. The photographer will be taking
candid shots
throughout dinner of the wedding party and their guests. After
dinner, there will be the "Throwing of the Bouquet", "Removal of
the Garter",
cutting of the wedding cake and feeding of the wedding cake to each
other. If the couple wishes a closeup of their hands with their
new rings,
we recommend that we take that picture during the cutting of the
cake. The band, or DJ, will start up the music and new bride and
groom will
take to the dance floor for the "First Dance." There will be a
special dance for the bride and her father as well as for the groom and
his mother.
The next dance involves the entire wedding party. From there, the
dance floor opens up to all. (Note: the order of events may be
different
depending on the wishes of the bride and groom).
One last thing to mention. If you have had Something Special created
escpecially for your wedding, you will probably want a picture of it.
Special napkins, party favors, candies, matchbooks--- anything from
your special day.
After the wedding and honeymoon,
etc., and everything has regurned to "normal", it is time to view your
wedding pictures. The wedding
Proofs are 4" x 6" prints of
everything taken by the photographer. These proofs can be simply
placed in a photo box or presented in their own
album depending on your desires and budget. From these proofs,
you will select the final pictures that you want in your Wedding Album.
Your family and friends should also view these proofs so that they may
order any prints that they like. They may order just the prints (
for
framing) or they may order smaller albums of their own.
Selecting the Wedding Album.
You must decide how much you want to spend on the album and accessories
as well as the prints that will go
in the album. The larger the print size selected, the higher the
price. Your photographer will show you the various wedding albums
available in
all price ranges and photo-holding capacities to assist you in your
decisions.
Parent Albums are available for
family and friends as mentioned above. Just select which prints
and the corresponding sizes. Your
photographer will help you with this process, too, if you choose to
order parent albums.
Finally, once all of the orders are in and paid for, they will go to
the lab and in a short while you will have your wedding memories
forever. If, at
a later time, your pictures become damaged, lost, etc., they can be
reprinted. Your photographer transfers all of the pictures taken
of the
wedding on to a CD-ROM and makes several copies to store in different
locations to ensure that we can always recreate your memories if the
need should arise. You are welcome to purchase your own copy of
the CD-ROM and any of its
accessories, too. Some of the wedding
packages come with the CD and case.
Most importantly, GOOD LUCK with your upcoming wedding.
